Rome Day 1 - Part 2

Tried to do this as one big post about our first day in Rome. Blogger didn't like all the photos as once. So we'll pick up where we left, which was the snow covered Roman Forum.
Heading down the sidewalk we found some fun statues.
We finally got to our "pointy statue things on a big white building." Found out later it is the Altare della Patria. Yep, it too had snow on it.
Either way, Ashley was impressed. Giving her Vanna White showcasing impersonation.
Getting a little, ok a lot, cold we stopped for a coffee, snack, and warmup. We just sat and read and people watched.
This was the view from our table. It was really nice to have a slow day. We ran into some travellers who were doing a whirlwind tour with Contiki. They only had 10min to sit and have a quick coffee and chat. Talking with them was really fun. Rome is so much more social then Tropea. They then carried on with their tour, and we continued to sit and read.
Heading home through the roman streets at night was quite beautiful.
Found this little guy all huddled up away from the snow.
Found yet another church. Not sure what this one was. It is close to our apartment, so maybe we'll find out. Either way, that is the last of the photos for the first day, so I'll leave you there.

  1. Yay! Just caught up with the trip photos. So neat to see what you've been up to. :) Conquer Mobile just moved into our new digs. It's much bigger, and Bruce and I get an office (we share, but the office is really big). And we're recruiting new folks. Wahoo growth!

    Miss you guys...
