Fabric Shopping

Istanbul is known for its fabric. Someone I knew really likes the stuff, so we decided to go see what we could find. Based on a tip from our good friend Nate we found the "textile district." Not really sure if it is a true district, but everything in Istanbul seems to be clumped together. Need hardware, yep, there is a section of the city for that. Lighting, yep, got that too. We even found a whole street devoted to belt buckles.

This is just one of the many stores. Not really your by the meter sort of place. Rolls and rolls of the stuff.

They sell it by the KG, and only on a roll by roll basis. If you aren't looking for fabric in the thousand+ meters, don't even bother.

Case in point, one of the many trucks overflowing with fabric supplies. This was just one of many.

But we still had fun exploring. So many streets filled with wonderful fabric.

Streets and streets of the stuff, on both sides.

Not your typical Istanbul shopping experience, but we sure had a lot of fun.
